In some Native languages the term for plants translates to “those who take care of us."

The story of

Kristen Mastel

I am a born and bred Minnesotan. I went away for graduate school to Indiana, but as most Minnesotans will say they often move back to be close to family and friends, and our 10,000+ lakes! I grew up with the love of the outdoors. My folks took us camping, biking, hiking, and I was fortunate enough to grow up on a lake where we would swim from morning to night all summer long. My mom and grandmother were caretakers of beautiful gardens that fostered a deep appreciation for the world around me.

I am an academic librarian, and after pushing myself to receive Librarian status (kinda like a full professor), going to school, volunteering, being a Well Spouse, and dealing with my own personal chronic health issues I hit burnout BIG TIME. Through developing a solid morning and evening routine, setting boundaries, daily walks in nature, and nourishing my body with nutritious foods and herbs I began to feel like myself again. I had more energy again.

I decided to become a health and wellness coach that specializes in burnout and chronic illnesses, as I have seen how they go hand-in-hand. I enjoy the problem-solving and research that goes into helping those with chronic health issues live a full life and helping those that are stressed regain a connection with themselves and the world around them.

I have been recognized as one of the Top Health Coaches by Coach Foundation. Also, in 2022 was Top 3 experience for my forest bathing sessions by the Twin Cities Collective.
