Stop struggling with stress and sleep

Reconnect with nature to reconnect with yourself.

Forest bathing sessions and herbal consultations to ground your wellbeing.

Hello!

I’m Kristen Mastel.

A certified forest therapy guide, herbalist and health coach. After facing career and personal burnout, I found that taking the time to be out in nature whether a walk with my pup, Jiggsy, or out on the trails solo was (and still is) crucial to my mental and physical health and burnout recovery. I feel honored to be able to take part in & share the healing power of nature in Minnesota (and virtually) with you!

Forest Bathing

Forest therapy is a practice that invites you to slow down and experience the natural world through your five senses without any other goal or focus. This Japanese art form and reflective practice, shinrin-yoku, loosely translates to “taking in the forest through our senses.” Through nature connection experiences we can experience mental and physical aspects of wellbeing. Forest bathing sessions are offered locally in Minnesota or virtually around the world.

About me

The story of
Kristen Mastel

I am a born and bred Minnesotan. I went away for graduate school to Indiana, but as most Minnesotans will say they often move back to be close to family and friends, and our 10,000+ lakes! I grew up with the love of the outdoors. My folks took us camping, biking, hiking, and I was fortunate enough to grow up on a lake where we would swim from morning to night all summer long. My mom and grandmother were caretakers of beautiful gardens that fostered a deep appreciation for the world around me.

I am an academic librarian, and after pushing myself to receive Librarian status (kinda like a full professor), going to school, volunteering, being a Well Spouse, and dealing with my own personal chronic health issues I hit burnout BIG TIME. Through developing a solid morning and evening routine, setting boundaries, daily walks in nature, and nourishing my body with nutritious foods and herbs I began to feel like myself again. I had more energy again.

I decided to become a health and wellness coach that specializes in burnout and chronic illnesses, as I have seen how they go hand-in-hand. I enjoy the problem-solving and research that goes into helping those with chronic health issues live a full life and helping those that are stressed regain a connection with themselves and the world around them.

I have been recognized as one of the Top Health Coaches by Coach Foundation. Also, in 2022 was Top 3 experience for my forest bathing sessions by the Twin Cities Collective.

I came into the session frazzled after a chaotic morning. I couldn’t believe how relaxed I felt after this. In fact, its an hour later and I am still in my same spot outdoors finishing my french press of tea just observing. Thank you.
